Gayle Kerr, Founder, Past President
It was her passion for advertising that attracted Gayle to her career path. She loved the excitement of the industry and the thrill of seeing her writing produced in print or on television. After more than a decade working as a copywriter in agencies in Brisbane, she found a new audience for her communication skills, becoming a lecturer and a tutor in copywriting.
Gayle now shares her passion for advertising as a senior lecturer in advertising and IMC at the Queensland University of Technology, where she teaches in the areas of advertising management, advertising campaigns and IMC. She has won an Excellence in Teaching Award from the Faculty of Business, as well as a best published paper in the field of teaching and learning. Gayle has also taught in the IMC program at NorthWestern University in Chicago as a visiting professor.
Gayle’s PhD was the first in Australia in the area of IMC and was acknowledged in the US industry magazine, Marketing News. Since then, she has published extensively in the area of advertising regulation, advertising management, IMC and advertising and IMC education. She is a co-author of the Belch, Belch, Kerr and Powell, Advertising and IMC text. Her passion for advertising continues to grow.

David Waller, President
David Waller has worked in the banking and film industries, and has taught at a number of universities, including University of Newcastle, University of New South Wales and Charles Sturt University-Riverina. He has published over 60 refereed journal articles, including Journal of Advertising; Journal of Advertising Research; European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Marketing; International Journal of Advertising; Marketing Intelligence & Planning; and Journal of Marketing Communications. David’s research interests include Marketing communications, advertising agency-client relationships; controversial advertising; international advertising; and marketing ethics.

Sonia Dickinson, Vice-President

Sonia Dickinson is an Associate Professor in the School of Marketing, Curtin University, Western Australia. She lectures in undergraduates courses, with a focus on digital communication management. In 2011, her contribution to student learning was recognized by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC), where she was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. Her areas of research interest include advertising self-regulation, message-source effects in advertising, empowerment issues in social media, and brand management. Her work has been published in the European Journal of Marketing, Journalism and Mass Communications Quarterly, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Marketing Communications. Sonia leads the School of Marketing, 'Media Effectiveness Research Group'.
